Selections in Export Datasource infopackage

Hi,

I've to initialize huge - really huge amount of data from an ODS to successive ODS and a Cube. If try to initialize all at once.. activation fails.

I don't think I can initialize request by request.. can I?

Anyway.. I tried to bring some fields in the infopack selection, but I could not change the export datasource (8<odsname>).. as per notes 630854, 499404.

Can anybody suggest how I can achieve this..

I am still wondering about why dataselections are not allowed in an infopackage of export datasource from an ODS.

Could somebody kindly explain this to me?

Hi Girish,

if you generate again an export datasource with which you have already done an init with some selection on 'custom' fields (I meant 'custom' from a selection point of view, that is, you have flagged them in RSA6 and this selection is not provided by std!) you run the risk to see these same fields with selection (and related init), but no more in the same status (after the regeneration)...with related inconsistencies..

I am currently facing the same problem as Somnath is.

I do believe that this is probably to avoid some data inconsistency. However, what these inconsistencies are or could be, I am not sure.

Could you throw some light on this?

I do not get any field in the selections.. for both updates... Init or Full.

So it doesn't matter what I do first..

Roberto... why is Bhanu's suggestion not correct?.. though it doesn't matter in my case.. but still wanted to know..

Hi Somnath !

Are you on BW 3.0B (patch level 25) or BW 3.1 (patch level 19) or BW 3.5 (patch level 10)?

Take a look to OSS Note 810181...system should allows you to do selection for full load and not for init (but only for ODS as source and not for cube!)...(this is due for consistency reason..)

Anyway, Bhanu's suggestion is good, but you can use it only if you want to load data into cubes and not ODS...

anyway this problem has been already discussed before in

...even if you will be able to load several packet and not an huge one...your activation will fail because you don't have enough space on your disk !

How about Full Loads broken up by different selections and then an Init without Data Transfer.

but the target is an ODS that cannot be accept full and init from the same datasource...
