importunes about version in MIC

Dear QM gurus,

any one can you please explain what is the importunes about version in master inspection characteristic creation.

i am totally confused please help me.

In simple words,MIC is created as a Master data when you have same char used at several places.So you create it once & use it multiple time.

Now in this process when you have a MIC which is slightly to be changed for certain parameters,so needs to create another version of the MIC which has some parameters different from the previos version.

sap you have a MIC which is MIC1 version1 with UCL = 12 & LCL=10.

Now you get a requirement to change limits of this MIC for a situation at one place(say UCL = 12 & LCL=10.50).

As Version 1 is already used at sevaral places you may create New version say 2 and assign it to new place.

Older one can be replaced with new one depending upon the customization"with History" & Without Histoty" .

If you dont want to create versions then deactivate the plant level setting of history of MIC (Remove the tick mark).

The version in MIC is used to track the changes in the MIC. But even after creating a new version if required still the old versions can be used in Inspection plan. What exactly do you want?
