Error : hostname unknown

Hi

I have a very new ECC and XI system. I tried to create an RFC Destination to PI system. When I entered the FQDN as target host , it said hostname unknown.

I have selected IPAddress under the save to database link. Is that okay? Still the IPaddress is not popping up

The Gateway Host and Gateway service are blank. Do I have to fill them s well? Where do I get those details in PI server?

Regards

Dear Radhika Shetty,

Actually, the host name and the gateway are separate things that you need to input independently. So good to know that you have the gateway in place. Now for the host: it looks like your ECC system is unable to resolve the host name with use of the DNS system. So what you should do is just input the IP address instead of the host name. Assuming that the ECC is able to connect to PI in terms of network accessibility, this config should work fine with the IP.

Hope this helps,

Hi Greg

When I replaced Hostname with ipaddress, I get another error

Error Details ERROR: timeout during allocate

In my SLD, I don't see any Business system created for the ECC system. There is a technical system but no business system associated with it. Is that why the RFC Destination connection test fails?

I have not yet configured the RFC Connection type H to the PI system from ECC. Should it be configured first?

Regards

you will find gateway details by using t.c SMGW

How to find out Gateway Service for any Server:

Open transaction SMGW and choose Go to -> Parameters -> Display.

Beneath Attributes there will be the entries 'gateway hostname' and 'gateway service'.
