Serial No. Problem in Usage Decision Transaction

Dear experts,

During the recording of usage decision of a GR-based insp. lot with mvt type of 103 (GR blocked stock), there is a material with serial number. When I enter the quantity to be returned to vendor, an error message appears "Movement type 124 does not currently support serial number management". This results in the denial of saving the usage decision by the system as well as the inability of posting the 124 material document (return to vendor from GR blocked stock). I tried to alter the the entry in table T156S as described in the error message but to no avail. Is there any way to work around this problem?

Hi How r u doing usage decision since the material is in block stock? if it is quality it should trigger 122 movement. If the material is in block stock activate 08 inspection lot and you can do transferposting using 349 movement. So the material will come to quality and now you can do return delivery through 122 movement. Else you can move the stock to unrestricted and then send it back to vendor.

Hi Smruti,

We are doing the usage decision eventhough the material is in GR blocked stock stock type. It is the policy of our company not to recognize the stock accounting wise until the goods have been inspected and passed the quality inspection process. We have been using the GR blocked stock (103) for years until now to receive every QM-relevant PO item. After the goods are declared as qualified we enter the qty which pass the QI to the to unrestricted use field on the Insp stock tab at QA11. In case of the goods not qualified, we enter the particular qty to the return to vendor field on the same tab. The system then will carry out automatic stock posting by the means of 105 (from GR blocked to unrest.) material document for the qualified qty . In other hand the system will carry out the creation of 124 (return delivery of GR blocked) material document for the qty we would like to return to vendor.

Unfortunately, up until now we haven't had any raw material in our system that utilize serial numbering. So the automatic 105 & 124 mat doc posting has always been successful up until now. Just right now, we have a raw material with serial number to receive in our system which is the cause of this problem. The policy of our company not to recognize the goods which have yet to pass the QI process complicated this matter. That's why we cannot return the goods to vendor by using the 122 mvt type. The goods which fail the QI must be returned at once from the GR blocked stock by using 124 mvt type.
