Youu2019ll have to forgive my SAP knowledge. Iu2019m proficient in the screens that I use but thereu2019s more parts of SAP I havenu2019t used than I parts that I have. Iu2019m on a committee trying to streamline our release process and use SAP to help us through the majority of it instead of combining different programs. So before we try to go down this road I have a question that Iu2019m hoping someone can help with.
The process I need help with is essentially the hand off between our Project Managers to Manufacturing. When we get an order in house that has nonstandard product the order goes through a few steps until the custom part numbers have BOMs created and are dropped onto a sales order. So-
We want to be able to have SAP generate a specific email when a department has a custom product that has been released and only when this happens. We have many releases during the course of a typical day and several departments. So letu2019s say we have three departments that are called out on a release. Cogs, Sprockets, & Widgets. We donu2019t want any other departments notified of the release. Each department is designated by a four letter suffix. This is what weu2019d like to sort on.
Cogs has a part number of TL00001-COGS1 (sort on COGS)
Sprockets has a part number of TL00001-SPRT1 (sort on SPRT)
Widgets has a part number of TL00001-WIDG1 (sort on WIDG)
Generally the BOMs for these parts are created before they are added to the sales order. Would it be possible to have emailed notifications sent to each Planner from SAP when a sales order is saved with a part number that pertains to them? Sorting on the four letters? If this is possible a simple walkthrough would be appreciated.
