Hi,

We are in roll out project, I want to copy the Inspection Plan from old plant to new plant, Inspection plan is getting copied to new plant but Inspection characteristics are coming from old plant (i.e inspection characteristics of old plant exist in new inspection plan even after copying). we have tried to copy the inspection characteristics but it is asking the values for control data of quantitative characteristics for each line item,

Can any body suggest that how to copy the inspection characteristics in quality plan,

Thanks in advance,

hi Raj

MIC/ inspection characteristic are created at the plant level. So its better to exted those MIC for new plant.

Then copy the inspection plan from old plant to new plant. The only thing is that you have to chage the plant against MIC because by default it wiil copy pant code of old plant.

Now come to Ist point how you will exted it. their is two ways

1) Manual by copying the old ones..... it no of mic are too many, its a difficult one

2) take help of ABAPER and make the BDC for extesnion.

I hope second one will suite you.

You can copy the plans but the characteristics will be what they are.

If you are copying the plans, why are you using different MiC's? You can share MIC's across plants and there is no real need to change the MiC. We encourage companies NOT to use local MIC's as each mic can only be linked to one general characteristic and if you ever want to use batch management it can really cause problems.

Hi,

Thanks for your immediate reply,

Can i use old plant characteristics for new plant ( say "A" is old plant , "B" is new plant ).

In Plant B quality plan, Plant A inspection characteristics are appearing with Plant "A" name for Qualitative/ Quantitative and Inspection methods as well,

Batch management also activated,

Thanks,

Yes. You can use the old characteristics in the old plant.

Keep in mind though that you cannot let BASIS or the project come back and attempt to delete the plant from the system. The plant will basically become a virtual master data plant for QM. They can lock down other functions of the plant so material can't be moved there by mistake. Make sure your key superusers retain security in the plant in order to manage MIC's including adding new ones.

Thanks FF,

Already I have created Master inspection characteristics for the new Plant "B",

During copy of Quality plan they are not coming to new plant quality inspection.

Client expecting me to provide new plant inspection characteristics in new plant Quality Plan,

Which method will help us to change the plant in inspection characteristics of Quality plan,

We have nearly 2500 TLs (Quality plans, routing and Equipment task list),

Could you please suggest any idea,

Thanks,

No. It would be a manual process normally. You can use CWBQM which would make it somewhat easier.

You might be able to write an ABAP for it but it won't be easy and by the time you write it, troubleshoot it, etc.. you can probably have them done manually in CWBQM.

Just be aware that if you are batch managed and currently use batch characteristics linked to the MIC's, you will have considerable issues in the future unless you have made a major effort in redoing your batch classes and general characteristics as well.
