Hi,
Does anyone know what the theoretical maximum limit for field length in a table in HANA? In BW it is 60 characters. For ECC data, it is whatever the ECC length is but I was wondering about external data brought on through BODS.
Thanks,
In case you're searching for the answer... reference says max. length is 5000.

Hi there,
Why don't you just look it up in the "SQL Reference" for HANA? [http://help.sap.com/hana_appliance#section5]
In there you'll find all data types explained and an appendix "Restrictions for SQL Statements" as well.
As with any other database or piece of technology checking the manuals is always a good idea, while using the forum members as search slaves surely isn't...
Cheers,
Lars

Lars,
There's a difference between asking for an "off the top of your head" 1-word informational answer where the forum would be more efficient than digging through a 100-page manual versus asking someone else to do the research
At any rate, no one is obligated to respond, in which case I will go read the manual.
Finally, if you were to apply the RTFM standard, very few questions on this or any other forum would make it.
Manish,
just check the rules of engagement that apply for all forums here on SDN.
I don't know your PDF reader, but I didn't need to "digg through 100 pages" but simply used the search feature...
And no - just because there are many users that seems to ignore the rules of engagement I'll surely not stop to point out that this is wrong.
regards,
Lars

Hi Manish,
The field length should depend on the data type . Eg: For VARCHAR its 1- 5000, NVARCHAR 1- 5000 , BLOB 2GB etc.
