Several Suggestions:

- Is the SAPService, a member of the local admin group ?

please check, wheter the SAP user which starts the SAP Service (usually

SAPService<SID>) is still member of the local Administrators group (both

SAP users should be member of this group), and especially, whether it

has access to the /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run folder (and several other

SAP-related folders).

Try reboot the system right after adding SAPService<SID> user to Admin Groups

- See SAP note 129813 NT: Problems due to address space fragmentation

- check sapmnt and saploc sharing access to <sid>adm

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Vincent

Thank you for your help. It was a permission problem with \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe and \usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\exe.

Once I added the LocalAdmin users and gave them full control it worked. I had already updated the kernel. I think that's when the problem started.

Thanks,

Peggy

Hi,

I agree with Srikanth and check file permissions in this case.

Refer SAP Note 125079 - After upgrading to Kernel 31H, R/3 doesn't start

where solutiion mentioned as:

Check file permissions on your kernel directory :

<drive:>\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\run

If permissions for Everyone are set to 'RXWD' (Read, eXecute, Write, Delete) change them to 'Full control'

Let us know your outcome.

Hi,

Looks like the shared memory access is not available

    • ERROR => AttachOsShm OpenFileMapping(FILE_MAP_ALL_ACCESS,FALSE,Global\SAP_SYSTEM_SHM_0_37) failed with Err=5

EIO*: Input/output error OR: Access is denied. http://shmnt.c 2249

I can suggest a reboot of the server and retry SAP system startup. Also make sure you have updated your kernel to the latest patch. Also check similar thread:
