Hi everyone,

Kindly help me on the error that i've encountered when upgrading to NW 7 EHP2. I'm on the J2EE configuration phase and below is the error.

The execution of PREPARE/INIT/DETERMINE_PROFILES ended in error.

The tools was unable to determine the central instance.

com.sap.sdt.j2ee.phases.PhaseTypeDetermineProfiles

com.sap.sdt.tools.sysinfo.InstanceDetectorException

I have upgraded the kernel before i started the upgrade so i dont think this is a kernel related issue.

I also don't know why the status of the dispwork.exe is STOPPED. Maybe that's why there's an error because the dispwork is not running.

I also tried to run the sapcontrol -nr <instance number> -host <hostname> -function RestartService but still it didnt work.

Really appreciate your help on this.

Pls provide more information by referring logs to get the exact issue.

Hi,

is your sap system up and running?

check your db is in open state?

you should be able to login to SAP then only you can continue ehpi tool
