Input controls in Web i Report

Hi

My Back end for web i report is Bex Query, so now

Will Input control in Web i work as a report filter or Query filter?

i mean if i select any input control which is defined on a object refreshes the data from the back end, or it will only filter the data in the report only not hitting the database after each selection in input control?
