Text Determination

Hello Gurus,

I have created a Text determination for Delivery Header text such that the text wil get copied from the Sales Order Header text.

When i create a Sales Order and create a Deilvery, the text gets copied.

But, if i put/edit the Header Texts in an existing Sales Order for which the delivery has already been created, the SAles Order Header texts does not get displayed at the Delivery Header level.

When i check the detail of Text determination in the Delivery, it shows that "The Text has been obtained". Then why the text is not displayed.

Is this functionality standard or there is some ambiguity. Kindly help.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Rianka

So, if you want to make changes in preceding doc (here it is Sales order) and it should reflect in subsequent doc (here it is Delv. Doc). Then for this in VOTXN - text determination, against you text type activate "Reference" indicator.

Say,

Seq

Text ID

ID Desc

Reference

Text is Obligat.

Access

2

0002

Header Note 1

place a tick mark(make is active)

Based on your requirement

This configuration change for the text determination.

And it is understood that I may not work on existing documents with susbsequent document follow.

So, try these changes with fresh sales cycle.

HI,

As i mentioned in my question, when i create a SO and then create its delivery, the Header text is copied.

Just wondering if i change this SO TEXT again and then the change reflects in the Delivery. Is that possible?

Thanks,

Rianka

Hello,

That is exactly what is suggested by JP above.

If you Refer the Text in Delivery then any changes in the Sales Order Text will be reflected in the Delivery because system is referring to the Text in Sales Order & not creating new Text in Delivery.

The Text in Delivery Document (or any Sales Document) can be created with Reference or can be Duplicated. If you create it with reference then the changes in the referred Text (Sales Order Text in your case) is reflected in subsequent document.

But if the Text is duplicated, then it is a new Text in itself with no link to originating Text, so the changes in original (Sales Order) Text is not reflected in Delivery, which is happening currrently in your case.

Just try the suggestion above & post further queries here.

Yes I understand you question.

So, I would still maintain

in VOTXN - text determination, against you text type activate "Reference" indicator.

So, Reference indicator is the key to your query. provide the source of Text Type is sales order.

By fresh cycle, I mean,

- create a SO

- then create delivery with reference to SO, where Header text is copied.

- change this SO TEXT

- then if Reference is maintain for this SO TEXT, changes in that will reflect in Delivery also.

Hi,

Just a query. I have to check mark the reference indicator at Delivery Header level right in VOTXN.

Thanks,

Rianka.

check mark the reference indicator at Delivery Header level right in VOTXN.

No, this is incorrect.

Whereas you should have check mark for reference indicator at should be at Sales Order Header Level in VOTXN.

Yes. Your understanding is correct.

You will have to mark the Reference Indicator in VOTXN.
