ep5sp6 could not start after migration from ep5sp6 to ep6sp6

Hai,

our task was : migration from ep5sp6 to ep6sp9.

The migration was sucessful . but after that when i restarted the source machine(ep5.0 sp6)it is asking for user id and password and after giving user id and password it is not starting up . showing some problem in connection database ie oracle service name (sid).

Hi Praveen,

I'm not sure exactly but did you make any changes to you tnsnames.ora file? The error seems to be point to it not being able to resolve the service_name. do you possibly have two entries with the same service name or maybe one misspelled?

Hai Johnpolus,

i havent changed anything . but before migration it was working sucessful . after completing migration i have restarted it and then it is showing this problem .

whether for migartion we have connected this system using ep5.0 system in that we have given database connecton parameter TTPSYS and password . whether we have to release this connection like that some thing is there .or this sid is locked or some thing like that .do u have any idea regarding this .or after migration any post migration step have to be done in ep5sp6 system . we have done all post migration steps specified in the migration document but it is for only ep6sp9 that we have done . can u sugest any thing reagarding this one.

Hi Praveen,

We have faced the same problem when we migrate EP5 to EP6. After your inst. of patch sp6 the server will not start up or it will go off after 5 min. and the IIS server will be in the start position. To over come this problem we need to repair the IIS software, because when we do the SP6 the IIS related dll's are getting corrupted. For this we need to repair by running the IIS inst.

When you start IIS inst. it will ask for wheather to do a new inst or repair. select the repair option that will make the EP5 SP6 working.
