OS-DB Migration:Problem with MaxDB installation

Hello SAP Gurus,

We are in the process of an OS-DB Migration from AIX-Oracle to SuSE Linux-MaxDB.

Our SAP system is SAP R/3 4.7.

We are through with the export on the source and the export file have been transferred to the target.

Now, we have begun with the target system installation on the target host. The Central instance installation is complete successfully.

However, while doing the DB instance installation, we are getting stuck at a point very strangely.

During the step 'MaxDB Database Installation', SAPINST crashes with the error message 'Connection to SAPInst broken. Please correct the error condition and restart the installation'.

Has anybody encountered this error before? Is anybody aware of the solution for the same?

We are trying to install MaxDB Release 7.6.03.

Regards,

Santosh

    Hi Santosh,

Have you installed the MAXDB Software on the target system befiore calling SAPINST.

Database software has to be installed before performing the Installation.

    Regards,

    Ershad Ahmed.

      Hello Ershad,

      thanks for your response.

I have tried to do that as well.

But still, SAPINST gets stuck and crashes when it reaches this particular step.

      Regards,

      Santosh

      Hello Deepak,

I actually tried to install MaxDB 7.5 as well, with the same results and same error message.

I am not sure if I can find the build 7.6.10 on marketplace.

I am getting 7.6.03 CD by default on marketplace.

However, will try to check out.

      Regards,

      Santosh
