GRC 5.3 upgrade

Former Member

Hi,

We are currently in Access Enforcer version 5.2 and we want to upgrade to version 5.3.

I would like to know what happens to the currently pending Access Enforcer requests? We want to retain the requests. Is it sufficient to backup the database before the upgrade?

Please let me know if you need any further details.

Many Thanks,

Aravindan

Hello,

As Mr Frank said, you'll find the upgrade guide under: http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP BusinessObjects -> SAP BusinessObjects Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) -> Access Control -> SAP GRC Access Control 5.3.

As per the guide( and only for Access Enforcer) you have to backup:

- All database tables with the prefix VIRSA_AE or VT_AE

- All the installation files you used when you originally installed your current version of Access

Enforcer

- Your existing data

Anyway, I think that the best option is perform a full system backup.

For AE 5.2 you have to undeploy:

AEUME.sda

AEEAR.ear

AEWorkFlowWSEAR.ear (If Exists)

AEEAR4WS.ear (If Exists)

AEDictionary.sda (If Exists)

I don't know specific for 5.2, but for 5.3 I used to undeploy as per note:

SAP Note 1174625 - Access Control 5.3 Java Support Pack Installation

And later, deploy the new support packages.

In this case, the components:

- sap.com/grc/ccxsysdb

- sap.com/grc/aedict

- sap.com/grc/redictionary

- sap.com/grc/ffdb

Are not undeployed, and the request and all your information remains. I mean, I haven't lost any data with this procedure.

I've always wondered (and I've discussed this in this forums) if this procedure is really needed. I mean, if it's necessary to undeploy to install new support packages for 5.3 itself (for example from 5.3 SP10 to 5.3 SP17, is it necessary to undeploy??).

All sap notes I've read pointed me to say "YES, you have to undeploy", but as I said, I've discussed it here and a lot of customers just install the new SPs with JSPM and this seems to be the "natural" approach.

@Frank: could you clarify on this??

@Aravindan: Excuse me for the answer, it was probably too long for your simple question.

Cheers,

Diego.

Have at look at the Service Marketplace - there is an upgrade guide that will (hopefully) answer all your questions.

Hi Diego/Frank,

Thank you for you answers. Still we haven't upgraded to 5.3, thought of updating the thread once it is done.

But I got my answers, the data/ existing requests will not be lost in the process of upgrading.

Cheers,

Aravindan

Diego/Frank,

I am planning to upgrade my GRC 5.3 system to SP18 from SP17, do you know if I need to undeploy the before applying SP18 ?

Thanks  in advance
