Information Broadcasting - Graphs and Tables

Former Member

IN our standard tenplate - we give the user the option of displaying data in tabular or graphical format. (several different types of graphs).

I have just begun trying to test Inf. Broadcasting and sending result via email.

It seems that when broadcasting, it only sends the tabular form of the results, even if I distribute from a grphical view.

Is this standard. Does something have to be done to allow this?

(in our std template, we change item to be displayed to a graph if users selects this option. We'd like them to be able to broadcast the results in the same format they are viewing).

I have made the change to eh template to use when displaying the precalculated result. However, I still cannot control which object to display.

In our STD temlate, we actually have 2 tables and a chart. The 2nd table and the chart are hidden, be default.

When the user requests a chart display, the tables are hidden and the chart is displayed.

However, when i DISTRIBUTE the reulting chart via e-mail, for example, the file distributed is actually all objects, not just the displayed chart.

As I had mentioned in my previous message try broadcasting with a custom template, i.e attach the query to a custom template, execute the template and distribute it using that template. In this case only the object which was displayed in the current navigation will be displayed.

The reason you are seeing all the objects is becasuse there is no logic built to pass the current state of the template (which are the objects displayed now) to the STD template which is used for broadcasting.

Thanks.

When you broadcast using the standard template the template '0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING' is used for broadcasting. This template only has a navigation block and table item, this is the reason why the chart is not displayed in this template. If you create a custom template for broadcasting which has chart item in it you will be able to get the chart displayed (it will be always displayed.) See the attached link for custmoizing.

You can also override this behaviour if you attach the query to a custom web template, in this case when you broadcast you will get exactly what you see in the current report.

Thanks.
