    Hi Gigi,

    Basically, they do several functions:-

    1)Aggregates

    2)OLAP cache

    3)Precalculated web templates

4)Use small amount or result data as starting point of any queries and do the drill down

5)Avoid reporting on ODS and use Infoset containing ODS for reporting

6)If you use exclusion in reporting (<>), the indices are not used; so avoid using the exclusion but use inclusion

7)Use read mode"H" read when navigating and expanding hierarchies.

one thing is If we want to report on multiple ODS's then Infoset is the choice.Otherwise we can report on ODS.

If we are reporting on Infoset to report only 1 ODS data

then there is i think some performance issue.

The best bet in this case is restrict query on the required ODS.

    Nantha ,

Nice point that you should use Infoset rather then reporting from ODS directly...

Also the Report performance tuning depends on Number of users and frequency of use. In all likelihood - the requirements would be expansive but the usage will be less , the aim is to find the actual usage and then keep the queries small and fast.
