Different report symbol generated for the same characteristics

Hi EHS Experts,

We imported a custom property tree from an SAP system and imported to a different one. Report symbols generated for many characteristics do not match between the source and target systems. How to ensure same report symbols is generated for the custom characteristics? Other then configuration change for mismatched report symbols/characteristics , is there any other method to synch the report symbols between the systems?

Hello Pugazendhi,

is there any other method to synch the report symbols between the systems?

Sure! Just transport all the symbols definitions from customizing through your SAP landscape (DEV->QA->PROD) and do NOT run transaction CGZC to generate symbols in QA and PROD. If you choose to re-generate the symbols in DEV and transport them to QA and PROD you need to be on the save side and re-import the templates in QA and PROD as well.

Hi ,

How to ensure same report symbols is generated for the custom characteristics?

You created customized symbols are used system generated symbols by cgcz.

Symbols match up is must when you transport PT or templates.

You can check both system symbols via TCGA6 table.

Thanks

Dear Pugazendhi

we have more or less "only" two options (I believe). Either "regenerate" the report symbols in target system or try to create a "SAP transport" from source system with definition of report symbols needed and import that to target. But even that might not be "good" enough. If you have prepared customer specific symbols with customer specific function modules assigned you must prepare a further SAP transport as well for the customer function modules to move them from source to target system

C.B.

PS: the handling of report templates and report symbols is not that "nice and easy" in comparison to development objects of othere SAP modules (as SAP MM, SAP SD...)

Especially the handling of the WWI report templates is no that easy
