Database error on an install of BOE 4.0

I am trying to install BOE 4.0 SP2 on a RedHat 5 box. Everything works fine until I enter my existing MySQL info and than I get the following error: Cannot verify database login information. [INS00104]

I replaced the MySQL 5.0 client with the MySQL 5.1 client as was advised in another troubleshooting note for this issue and I still receive the same error.

I have been able to connect to this database on other systems.

Any suggestions?
