blank fields saving as text when downloading a webi report as excel

A number of BOXI R3 reports are exported into excel format but any blank fields are coming through formatted as text instead of general format. This means that a number of VB scripts won't work properly as they won't recognize the text formatted cell.

is there is a way we can format the webi report cell to general.Please help!!!
