Client DVD issue during SAPinst - 11g

Hi Experts,

We are facing a unique predicament, We are using sapinst o update our dialog instances on HP-UX / Oracle 11.2.0.2 / ERP 6.0 system after EHP5 installation was performed on it to update from EHP3 to EHP5.

Now the sapinst is asking for client DVD and while we need 11.2 Client software, the tool asks for only 10G client software.

Secondly, if we do give the oracle client DVD for 10g .. It does go ahead but in the last phase of th install it errors due to DB connecitivity.

Please suggst how to go about this issue.

Thanks and Regards,

Karan Shah

Hi,

Oracle client 10.2.0.5 (DVD # 51041742) should be fine with Oracle 11.2.0.2 RDBMS.

Can you post the logs where your installation is failed ?

Hi,

Please find the sapinst logs.

An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > Software Life-Cycle Options > Application Server > Oracle > Dialog Instance( Last error reported by the step :Java EE Engine configuration error. DIAGNOSIS: See output of log file batchconfig.log: '

Can not get DB connection. Batchconfig will only be able to execute offline tasks. '.). You can now:

Choose Retry to repeat the current step.

Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.

Stop the option and continue with it later.

Log files are written to
/tmp/sapinst_instdir/NW702/LM/AS/ORA/DI
.

The batchconfig.log doesnt contain much information.

Hi,

Make sure that database is running at this stage including LISTENER.

Please post the content of "batchconfig.log" file.

Thanks for response everyone. But the issue was resolved after we restored the security folder under /sapmnt/SID/global.

This directory was removed and it caused the connection to DB a problem as this directory is critical.
