Search not working in Portal 7.3 SP05

Hi Folks,

We have a Portal 7.3 server recently upgraded from SP03 to SP05. After the upgrade the Search stopped working. I checked the Search Configuration under System Administration to make sure Role Index Provide is Enabled. I also checked the Enable Quick Launch in AFP Framework and that looks fine too.

Any clues why the Search stopped working. It was working on SP03 before we upgraded to SP05.

Thanks,

Winston

are there any errors in default trace?

Anja, The search does not even work. When I enter text in the input field I expect the input suggestions to show up. The mangnifying glass icon next to the search field is not enabled either. It looks like search provider itself is disbaled. I dont see anything in logs that is relevant to search.

thanks,

Hi,

Under "System Administration" -> "Search Providers" enable the relevant search provider and see whether the magnifying glass icon becomes enabled and the search works.

Another thing you can try, just to see whether it is a real search problem or a framework page problem, is try and use the search in the classic framework page.

Alexandra,

Thanks for your response. The Roles Index Provider is already enabled but I do not see the magnifying glass on the search field. The Classic framework does not have this feature. This is only available with AFP.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi,

Try looking at [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/55/0111fd14404d779a7d34d685ffcc31/frameset.htm], especially the part "Enable the Search Field".

To configure the search in the portal take a look at [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/21/ac4ed13bac4b6abee1f49d8a44edd9/frameset.htm]

Best regards,
