TP buffer manual delete - did I do right?

Hello!

Here's what I've done: I had a newly installed DEV system (WAS 620), in which I wanted to import country-specific add-on. However, I forgot to add support packages, the SAINT import got stuck on some weird error message, and I couldn't do anything about it. So I decided to reinstall the whole system. However, when I tried to import a SPAM update, I've got message that TP buffer was not empty. Obviously the info from the previous installation was not reset.

Just by hunch I found the file usr/sap/trans/buffer/dev, deleted it's content (just content, not the file) completely, and my SPAM update went on fine.

My question is: did I do right? It seems alright so far, but will there be consequences of deleting the buffer file content in the future?

Thanks!

Igor
