We have a requirement to create a landing page in Design Studio and to include a section for the user's BI "My Favorites" folder so that they can quickly open their saved analysis views from Analysis for OLAP. The requirement is to avoid showing users the BI Launchpad and to use the Design Studio as a "portal page."
The DS app has links to many Analysis Views as we attempt to provide alternative to BEX Analyzer workbooks. We have elected not to use Design Studio and the adhoc template at this time until we can develop the feature gaps we have compared to AOLAP.
So, back to the Favorites - we have created a BI workspace using the module for Personal Lists and saving this workspace to the platform. Then, in Design Studio, we have an opendoc link to open the favorites folder in a new window. This workaround almost meets the basic requirement, but the BI module does not allow for users to manage their favorites - they cannot delete or create new folders. It is a view only list.
That being said, the preference is to not use the BI module, but instead view and manage BI favorites from Design Studio. I am interested if any have found this to be possible and might provide some advice.
(Yes, I know AOLAP is in maintenance and the SAP roadmap lists Lumira and Design Studio, but let us set aside that discussion please).
