Crystal Reports Server 2008 - migrate to CRS 2011

Former Member

Hi All,

we recently purchased a copy of Crystal Reports Server 2008 and then realized that this is not compatible with Windows Server R2 64bit. So we told that we are entitled to a free upgrade to 2011.

So I installed Crystal Server 2011 and tried to enter our license key we obtained with the purchase of CRS2008. I am getting a License Key Error: Invalid key when I try to update the Key in CMC.

What is the quickest way to resolve this issue?

Thanks,

Sinead

I think you cannot use the same license key which was used in CRS 2008, until it is tagged to CRS 2011. Please download the trial key for testing from SAP else ask your SAP maintenance person to get a new license key tagged for the CRS 2011.

Thanks,

Please refer to the Note

Hi,

these Notes are specific to Crystal Reports Server 2008 which I know if half of the scenario I've described ie CRS 2008 licenses

Note: 1519524

Cause

This issue occurs when the un-installation is not done properly.

Resolution

Do a clean un-installation of Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 and perform the installation again.

I've not done an uninstall.

Note: 1567010

Cause

You might be using Windows XP or Windows 7 operation which are only supported for Crystal Reports 2008 client tools and not the Server Version.

Resolution

  • Please use a supported platform as per Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 supported platforms document.

  • Server Products

  • (1) 32-bit and 64-bit O/S editions supported(No Native 64 bit support, only 64 bit compatibility mode)

  • (2) Data Center Edition, Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition , Web Edition

  • Windows Server 2003 SP1 (1) (2)

  • Windows Server 2003 SP2 (1) (2)

  • Windows Server 2003 R2 (1) (2)

  • Windows Server 2008 (1) (2)

I have installed Crystal Reports Server 2011 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit - there should be no incompatibility issues here. Could it be that when I am applying the CRS2008 license it is checking the Server OS version?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Sinead
