Stopping AS

Dear all,

Can I stop/start the AS without stopping/starting the CI ?

I need just to stop the AS for patching, but I am not sure if it will affect anyhow the CI.

In worst case ... I think just the jobs will fail, so I can use sm61 to move the jobs on the CI.

Any other opinions ?

Thank you!

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Not sure what patches are you applying for the system.

If it OS patching, you may go by server-wise. Also, you can modify job scheduler and SMLG and so on.

If it is SAP level patching you have to shut down CI as well as AS.

Hi,

It is just OS Patching,

CI was patched already, and it does not need to be stopped.

Now just the AS.

What do you recommend ? Just to stop the AS and move the jobs on CI ... I think it is possible

Hi Daniel,

You can individually stop Application server. Jobs will automatically get shifted to CI ( provided yo have not mentioned any application server name in the job details).

Modify SM61, SMLG, RZ12 accordingly so that the application server to be patched is not used by any jobs or users.

Observe for sometime till the application server is idle and proceed with OS patching.
