Change master-technical release key not active

Former Member

Hello SAP experts,

I created a change master without release key and performed the changes in BOM. Now i dont want any others to use the same change master and perform the technical release.

But after the changes when i come to CC02 screen and go to edit, i see that technical release button is not active. How to achieve the same.

Regards,

sai

Hi Sai,

In that case if you want to restrict the usage of the Change Master, you can achieve it with below options:

1. Use 'Lock' indicator in Object Types screen. You can remove the same (Indicator-Lock) when you want to use it again for further changes.

2. Use of 'Authorization Group' - Entry of an authorization group in change master ensures that only the user that has this authorization value in his/her user profile, can use this change master record for making changes.

Hope it will help.

Thanks a lot anup, even i was thinking about the lock option but user said any one who has this access may mis use it and need to perform the technical release for the same.

I am not able to find why that option is grayed out.

Hi Sai,

I believe, to have 'Technical Release' indicator in Change Master, you must activate the release procedure in Customizing for Logistics - General under Engineering Change Management --> Set up control data. Set the Release active indicator in the

Effectivity data set.

Did you tried to use 'Authorization Group' function as I said in earlier reply ?

Hi Anup,

Thanks a lot for the guidance friend. Apologies for my delayed response. Below are my comments.

1) When i went to set control data i have checked release key active but i still cant find why can i get the button technical release activated.

2) Authorization group even i felt will be the best way. Authorization group do u mean, the below process

a) We give a specified number or number range in the profile and that profile will have the control of using ECM or ECR accordingly.

b) For the specific user in the authorization element of the user roles or profiles we give the same number or number range. This will allow only them to use it.

Is my above understanding on authorization use is correct. Please correct me if i am wrong any where.

Satish

Hi Sai,

1. Not sure but somewhere in SAP Help, I read that a technical release can be activated on for Change Hierarchies.

Please explore more in SAP help. I'll get back to you if I found anything related to it.

2. Yes, your undestanding on authorization groups is correct. Use Auth Object- C_AENR_BGR for the same.

Anup
