PO material description text from PR

Hi All,

Our SD team has set up a process where they change the description of the material manually in the sales order. This description is then picked in the PR as it is. Now when I try to convert the PR to PO it again picks the material master description in the PO.

How to deal with this scenario? The client wants to have always the description in the PR to be copied into PO.

Regards,

V S

In standard system, it generally does, e.g Drop shipment generated from Sales order or Direct P.O generated from S.O , if change the material master description it will come to P.O with changed description. I tested in my system it is normal behaviour.

    23. Question:

Why are texts not transferred from the material master to the purchase requisition when the purchase requisition is generated from an order?

    Answer:

    See Note 409368.

The description will be copied from MAKT table not from EBAN, you have to use enhancement to acheive this..

Use BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST and write your logic at Item level in such a way that..

get the Material description from EBAN for the PR number and overwrite it in PO at the time of creation.

try creating a normal PR with material number via ME51N and save->go to ME52N and change the description of material and save>create PO via ME21N w reference to Preq--> check if it is pulling changed description from PR? also, what is ur SAP version , it is ECC6, because it works fine on ECC but there are few SAP notes for shoert text issue on older version

one way you can ensure that the description ( TXZ01 ) from PR is copied to PO is by maintianing the settings in OMET that PO is to be created wrt to PR. then when PO is created wrt to PR , the text maintained in the PR will be copied.
