JAVA/ABAP Stacks with SRM 7.02 - Clarifications

56 Views

Hi,

While going through different documents (Links given below)

https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700001214882011E

(Installation Guide)

SAP Note [855534|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?sap-params=bnVtbT04NTU1MzQmc21wc3J2PQ%3d%3d]

I feel SAP is some how helping customers difficult to adapt SRM!

The note says

Quote"...new systems should be installed as separated ABAP and JAVA Systems...." UnQuote

What does this mean? Two server boxes for SRM in one landscape? So with back up, disaster management, configuration control (Dev, QA, PRD) do customer end up with a server farm or have a cost effective procurement process?

To add to that I am still searching for a document which states which stack for which of SRM business processes (SSP, SUS, SRM-MDM, LAC etc)

If one goes by the simplistic though that Java stack for Java application, the implementation guide whose link is given above, in page 7 states

Quote"....SAP strongly recommends using the Live Auction ABAP version as of SAP SRM 7.01....." Unquote

Can any one clarify what these two stacks mean from process point and which stack for which process

Also any constraints for any technical deployments (single client/ Classic etc)

Regards
