Query on "Manage Substitution rule"

Hi,

There are 2 users 'user1' & 'user2'. Both the users are having the same work items. When user1 is made as the substitute for user2, "on behalf of" option is appearing for user1 on the top of the work item list. But vice versa is not working, i.e. when user2 is made as substitute for user1, user2 is not getting "on behalf of" option. Both the users are having same roles both in portal as well as in SAP R/3 system. Kindly help to resolve this issue.

Regards,

Swaroopa

Are you absolutely sure that user1 has any work items? Please confirm this for example with transaction SWI5 (check the work items to be completed)? Normally the "on behalf of" option is visible only if the use for who you are substitute has any work items in his inbox. For example, it could be possible that user1 does actually not have any work items (being a substitute does not mean that you really have work items in your inbox - you just have a "view" to other user's inbox.

Do they have the exact same work items? This might be a reason for the "problem". What if you forward some completely other work item from totally different user to user1? Does the "on behalf" option appear then to user2? I was just thinking that maybe the UWL thinks that if you both have the same work item instances, it doesn't need to display the "on behalf" option since you already have the same work items in your worklist.

Issue is resolved. First reason for inconsistency in UWL is due to the duplicate entries of role " SAP_BC_UWL_SERVICE" in SAP R/3 system for both the users i.e user1 and user 2. Also found that SAP_BC_UWL_SERVICE role is no more required for User substiuttion. Hence deleted the role for both the users in backend system and set up a RFC connection in Visual admin for the system.
