ECL Viewer quality PDF/DWG

Hi,

We are running ECL Viewer 7.0 PL1. We are using it to view both PDF and DWG. DWG is best viewed in monochrome, but PDF is best viewed in color (removing the tick in monochrome).

Is it possible to have different settings for the ECL viewer to automatically switch between color when PDF is opened, and monochrome when DWG is opened?

Or, is it possible to define (I tried but failed) a greyscale black/white which does a fine job on both PDF and DWG?

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kind Regards

Soren

Hi Soren,

personally I'm using the latest ECL Viewer 7 patch 4 and for me the quality is fine. As there were improvements in the quality of displayed images in the past I would kindly ask you to upgrade to patch level 4.

Hi Christoph,

Thank you for taking time to reply.

Actually (I just checked) were on PL3, but the ECL viewer shows only PL1 which is a bit strange. But maybe is the "about" not updated.

I will try to install PL4, as I should still be able to include it in out sccm package if it is better.

Is there any special settings in regedit I need to implement for good quality on both DWG and PDF? The issue here is that we want DWG to be in monochrome, but PDF in color.

Is that possible?

Thanks in advance Christoph, much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Soren

Hi,

Actually if I check both "monochrome" and "Greyscale" in the options tab, it looks ok. But how do I set the greyscale entry in regedit? I know monocolor takes care of monochrome, but whats the key for greyscale?

Thanks in advance,

Kind Regards,

Soren

EDIT: after more testing it seems this didnt do it afterall, it all depends on the monochrome setting still. If anyone has an idea how to have greyscale on PDF and DWG please let me know.

Thanks

Hi Soren,

thanks for the information and I regret the late reply. From my point of view I'm using the latest patch 4 and the quality of PDF display is fine.

I remember some issues with former patches regarding the display quality, but these issue were solved at least with patch 4. So I would truly recommend you to uninstall your current ECL Viewer installation completely and then install the ECL Viewer 7 with the stand-alone installation. After this and a reboot please install each patch up to level 4. Then the display in the

'copyright' pop-up should be ok and I think also the PDF display quality.

Christoph

Hi Christoph,

Please dont regret anything, the fact alone that you spend your time on helping us on the forum, is very much appreciated! Your previous answers in other threads has helped me with several regedit entries.

I have now installed ECL 7.0 PL4, and "out of the box" it looks great, both DWG and PDF are in great quality.

Our issue persists tho, and maybe you have a solution for the problem.

We want to view PDF in color but DWG in monochrome. or atleast, both PDF and DWG in high greyscale quality. Is this somehow possible to specify greyscale in regedit, or to specify color for PDF and monochrome for DWG?

in short - we want to get rid of the colors in the DWG files, but we dont want to have bad quality on PDF.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Soren

Hi Soren,

I think that the colors for DWG files can be controlled by the loader preferences in the ECL Viewer. I personally never tried this before but here you can define specific colors for DWG files.

Hi,

I just installed PL4, but it doesnt help. PDF still looks horrible in "monochrome" setting.

Our issue is that we need to have 1 setting for both PDF and DWG (cad). I would let it run in standard setup with whita background and color, where both CAD drawings and PDF look very good, but we want DWG drawings to be in monochrome.

I have tried via regedit to set monochrome for DWG only, but it seems that the general setting is controlled via ImageViewUtils and not under each specific loader (DwgLoader as example)

Since PDF doesnt look any good in monochrome, is there another "grayscale" setting where PDF looks good?

Thanks in advance,

Kind Regards,

Soren
