Job Server and CMS server on separate physical boxes

I couldn't explain my question in the short space available in the title. My quesiton is, can a Job Server with Batch Job Scheduals, continue to run if the CMS server which is a separate physical server from the job server, goes down?

The fear is that all of our ETL jobs will stop if/when we have issues with the BOBI (CMS) server and have to reboot it. From what I can tell, the batch jobs create an actual .bat file on our Windows Server, then creates a schedule in Task Scheduler. Should this not be able to run independently of the CMS server?

Thanks!

your CMS and JobServer can be on different machine, but if the CMS Server is not running then your scheduled job will fail

the schedule command for job doesn't store repo connection like earlier versions instead stores the CMS connection information and DS Repo name as entered during Repo registration in CMC

you can create a cluster of CMS servers

But isn't the repository password set when 'registering' it with a Job Server in the Server Manager app? I would assume that the Job Server 'knows' the repository credentials when executing jobs because of this. From what I understand, the Job Server does not even know of the CMS server. They are only related through the repositories. And the schedule is a DS Schedule so that resides 100% on the Job Server server as a Task Scheduler job (our environment has a separate server for the Job Server and the CMS).

I just need to confirm what I'm thinking is accurate.

job server knows the repository connection information but not the name of the Repository that is configured in CMC, the repository information in the job server is used for saving the job server details in repo so that this job server is available to execute jobs on this repo and also used for load balancing calculation (in case of server group) not for launching the job

for launching job jobserver needs the repo information as part of command line that is sent to the job Server

following DS application can send this information to the job server

Job Launcher (export execution command/schedule - these 2 get the repo connection by using the cms connection and reponame)

WebServer (webservices/direct execution from MC - these 2 also get the repo connection by using the cms connection and reponame)
