How to import Chinese language during CUUC

Hello Experts

I am performing a CUUC (Unicode Conversion along with upgrade)from R/3 4.7 EXT 1.1 to ECC 6.0 EHP5. I have two issues.

1. During upgrade i want to include Chinese language imported as per note 322982. But here i am unable to add the language in SMLT and simulate as i get error "The required language combination is supported only in Unicode systems. Please refer to SAP

Note 73606. If you must configure your test system as an MDMP or a Blended Code Page system temporarily, please refer to SAP Note 1306826. Configuration cannot be activated now. " Is this possible ?

2. How do i know if there are already existing Z translations in my system ? I want to be sure that no customer z translations are missed out during upgrade. i referred note 485741, but i did not find any thing specific in se63.

Thanks and Best Regards

Pritish

Hi,

Q 1) Since your system is Single Code page, so either you install Chinese language after CUUC or do as suggested by upgrade make your system temporary as MDMP or Blended code page.

Q 2) Same has been explained in CUUC conversion (Page 86). Please check.

Thanks

Sunny

Hello Sunny, Hello Nils

Q1 - Answered, Thank you

Q2 - The idea here was to understand if i can check on my own if the customer has any Z translations, i tried se63 but it shows me a blank screen, should i assume there are no z translations and continue ?

Best Regards

Hi Pritish,

as far as I know, customers need to identify changed translations of texts of standard SAP objects by their own (if the object itself is not modified). Hence if you know the objects, then you can apply SAP note 485741. This is also valid for changes of language Z1.

Again please note that this is not valid for customer own objects in z range (first point in the SAP note). You need to distinguish here between language Z1 and translation of z objects.

Hi Pritish,

1. I would strongly recommend to install the Chinese language after the Unicode conversion has been finished ! Setting the system to MDMP (this would be needed in 4.6C already) will make your Unicode conversion much more complicated.

2. Translations of customer objects will not be lost. Main problem is if you changed translation of standard texts (or add translations where no SAP translation was available) or you adapted translations of Z1 language.
