Depreciation not getting posted for the group assets in the group dep area

Hi all,

I have created a seperate asset class for group assets in OAAX .

Depreciation area 03 is treated as the group depreciation area in OAYM .

and I assigned the standard dep key LINA for the asset class in the transaction OAYZ.

Now I created a group asset in AS21 and assigned it to the asset master for the dep area 03 in AS01.

When I have done the aquisition for the individual asset the aquisition values are properly flown to the group asset also .

But when executing the depreciation for the group asset in AFAB I am getting an error that " No data was found that agress the selection made"

Is it not possible to calculate depreciation for the group assets. As per my understanding it should post depreciation for the dep area 03 .

Can any one tell me where I have done wrong and what should be done from my side to solve this error.

Hi,

You need not to run dep for GROUP ASSETS separately.

Once you run dep for normal assets(where group asset is maintained in master), automatically system will updates the dep values to the individual group asset also.

Is it not possible to run depreciation for group assets instead of running the depreciation for individual assets.

Group asset is purely for reporting purpose, there won't be any depreciation get posted.

All normal assets acquisition value will be taken as the base value and calculate the dep and show it to you

It make no sense, I understand Group Asset is for reporting purpose, but at least it should show this group contain this many asset ? and when you execute report S_ALR_870119878, it don't show any value for accumulated depreciation, current depreciation, just show Acquisition value.

How one is going to report this ?

and sap help.com has not given much detail about Group Asset,

can any one help on this ?

I have small clarification in group asset.As your said in As01 we given the group asset number system is cal tax dep.

I have created my group asset in AS21 Factory building my a/c determination is 1000, and now i have created as01 one asset master like factory building  my a/c determination is 2000,  and i have go to the as01 dep area tab i found 01 book and 15 tax ,now double click on the Tax dep i have given my Group asset number (Factory buildings) ,I have posted acquisition value 1000 rs i have ran dep is cal book dep but tax dep is not calculated.It's showing only ac question value in Income tax dep tab 1000 only.

How to system is cal dep.

Note :As per my anysis i have remove in as02 15 tax dep area Group asset number remove it .system is calculated  Tax dep.Its correct or wrong.

Please give me clarification.

I also have the same issue, not finding out any way, how SAP will understand the posted depreciation and accumulated depreciation, as report of Group Depreciation is just showing Acquisition value, nothing else, I have already spend 10 hours behind this to figure out, don't know if solution is at place or not ?
