Deletion Time Period at SNP Optimization

Former Member

Hi!

I'm facing some problems at my SNP Optimization due a wrong Deletion Time Period.

Where could I maintain the "Deletion Time Period" (DEL_TRANS and DEL_PROD) for SNP?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Victor,

What is the background here?

Exactly what kind of issues are you facing?

Thanks - Pawan

Hi Pawan,

Thanks for your reply.

In fact, it is not a program error. The situation is the following:

For example:

I have some SNP documents (stock transfer) at 23.12.2011. They were generated at the last optimization.

Now, a new optimization is run and some documents at 23.12.2011 were not deleted.

Checking the "Deletion Time Period" (DEL_TRANS) at SNP Optimization Log, I see that for those products the "Start" is 06.02.2012 and the "Finish" is 06.05.2012. So, documents before 06.02.2012 are not considered for deletion.

The products wich documents were deleted have "Start" at 01.01.1970 and "Finish" at 06.05.2012.

I would like to understand how can I maintain those dates for DEL_TRANS.

Thanks in advance,

Victor Leao

Hi Victor,

What is the planning horizon you maintained in the variant for the background job for SNP Optimizer?

HI Pawan,

The Planning horizon is set as:

Planning Start Date: 01.11.2011

Planning End Date: 30.04.2012

Thanks!

Hi Victor,

Thanks.

1) When did the latest optimization run take place, and when had the one earlier take place?

2) In the "integration" tab of the SNP optmization profile, is the "SNP stock transfer horizon" checked?

If yes, what is the stock transfer horizon value that is maintained in the material master?

Hi Pawan!

1) When did the latest optimization run take place, and when had the one earlier take place?

The last two optimization run were:

1 - December, 27: considering product 100046 --> DEL_TRANS Start Date: 02.01.2012 / End Date: 01.04.2012

2 - January, 31: considering product 100046 --> DEL_TRANS Start Date: 06.02.2012 / End Date: 06.05.2012

We use weekly buckets to run optimizations.

2) In the "integration" tab of the SNP optmization profile, is the "SNP stock transfer horizon" checked?

If yes, what is the stock transfer horizon value that is maintained in the material master?

Yes. It is checked. The SNP Stk Trn. Hor. is maintained as blank.

Hi Victor,

From your data, it seems that optimizer is planning from 6 days after the planning run. So, I would expect that 6 days is maintained as horizon somewhere. Since you already confirmed that stock transfer horizon is zero, not sure where else to look. (Hope you did check at the demand location (destination location for the stock transfer).)

Also not able to clearly understand your time horizon. Pls go to the variant for optimizer run, and click on save. In the screen that comes up, please check what values are maintained for "planning start date" and "planning end date". It could be something like "current day + 5 days". Would like to understand what value is maintained.

One option that you could try out is to save the Optimizer run variant once again. If by any chance, there is inconsistency between the variant and the value used during run, this would get resolved with this. If you are running the optimization in a process chain, then also save the process chain variant again, and activate the process chain again.

Hi Pawan,

At the variant, the Planning Horizon is maintained manually. It is not dymanic.

My doubt is:

Why for some products the DEL_TRANS Start Date is set 01.01.1970 and for other products it is set 06.02.2012?

I could not find anything that correspond to those dates.

I checked the Transportation Lines dates and Master Data dates... Really don't whatelse to check!!

Hi Victor,

01.01.1970 corresponds to the default date in SAP. You would normally see this date e.g. against stocks.

So, in some cases, Optimizer is considering the default date and in other cases, it picks up some "horizon" value from somewhere.

Apart from product master, T-Lane and optimizer profile, I could only think that may be at the location, some horizon could be there, but I didn't find any relevant field in location master.

Sorry for repeating myself, but could you please share the stock transfer horizon which is maintained for the products AT THE SOURCE LOCATION AND AT THE TARGET LOCATION correspodning to your stock transfers?

Please share one example for product which has start of deletion as 01.01.1970 and another example of product which has start of deletion as 6 days from the date of optimization run.

Also, are you using process chain or SM36 job for optimization? Did you try saving your optimization profile once again now?

Thanks - Pawan

Thank you, Pawan!

I created a new scenario and tested the Stock Transfer Horizon.

That was the problem.

Clearing the stock transfer horizon, the DEL_TRANS became 01.01.1970.

That's what we need.

Problem solved!

Best regards!!
