iView property com.sap.portal.iview.ShowMinimize not effective

Former Member

Hi,

I made some bulk changes to my portal content objects (iviews, pages) to change a specific property.

In particular I changed the property 'com.sap.portal.iview.ShowMinimize' to false because I wanted to get rid of the 'minimize tray' icon alltogether.

When I look at the objects I can see that the value for this property has been set correctly for all my iviews. And yet the change does not take effect for all objects. In some cases the icon is still visible.

Especially I noticed that this parameter does not seem to do anything on webdynpro proxy pages. All iviews on webdynpro proxy pages still have the icon even when the property is set to false. If I use a wd4java iview on a standard page, the icon is hidden but if I use the same iview on a webdynpro proxy page the icon is still there. Even if I put a non wd iview on a wd proxy page the icon is still there.

Is there any limitation or known issues on this iview property and webdynpro proxy pages? What is the point of a webdynpro proxy page anyway? I understand that the sap delivered webdynpro iviews come in a webdynpro proxy page so I put my webdynpro iviews in such a proxy page, too. But is that even mandatory?

SAP came back to my OSS request, saying that this feature is supposedly supported starting from version 7.11.

They are going to update OSS note 1239889 accordingly.

Hi,

I mark this question as answered even though I feel that the answer is not really satisfying.

Indeed, the problem is described in note 1239889 as Kumar mentioned. However, the note also says that the functionality will be available in future releases but there is no hint whatsoever when that will be. And the note is already three years old!

Looks like SAP is trying to ignore this issue until we finally live with it. Also, their 'recommendation' to keep that property to 'yes' is really stupid. This is simply the only opportunity since they couldn't get it to work otherwise.

I also felt the same Stefan and had a hard time convincing the customer.

Thanks

Hello Stefan,

You might be correct in saying that the minimize parameter might not work with WebDynpro iviews.

But portal sometimes behaves in ways which are mysterious but only to us. Most of the time improper behaves of portal contents is becasue of use of irrelevant properties.

The minimize property works with corresponding page setup. Please check what kind of page have you assigned your iView to.

Varun

There is no mystery here. This is a known issue with the WD Proxy Page. Please refer to SAP Note 1239889.

Thanks
