Query on Sorting functionality in MD04 by Indivdual segments with respect to sale order

Dear Experts,

In MD04, when we perform the sorting functionality for a material with respect to sale order by icon Sort segments by date of 1st requirements we see different results for which we need to know the reason of behavior

For example, for a material 10000 for which we have a sale order with items 020 and 030 which has the same material in sale order.

1. In sale order, if i have the same date in "First date" field for both items 020 and 030 say 30.12.2017 then while sorting in MD04 (Sort segments by date of 1st requirements ->Edit-> Segments-> Individual segments-> sale order number - then as a result of sorting we are able to see both the items 020 and 030 in MD04 screen (This is our expected output)

2. In sale order, if i have the different date in "First date" field for item 020 as 26.12.2016 and for item 030 say 04.01.2017 then while sorting in MD04 (Sort segments by date of 1st requirements ->Edit-> Segments-> Individual segments-> sale order number - then as a result of sorting we are able to see both the items 020 and 030 in MD04 screen (This is our expected output)

3. In sale order, if i have the different date in "First date" field for item 020 as 26.12.2016 and for item 030 say 03.02.2017 then while sorting in MD04 (Sort segments by date of 1st requirements ->Edit-> Segments-> Individual segments-> sale order number - then as a result of sorting we are able to see only item 020 and not the item 030. We couldn't understand the system behavior on this sorting

Note: As per my understanding, In sale order if i have different "First date" in different month then while sorting in MD04 we are unable to see both the items of a sale order. Please explain us the logic behind this sorting functionality in MD04 against a sale order
