Dear Folks
We are facing a issue while trying to run Data Services Designer. Upon logging into the server on entering user credentials and selecting the repository, (some times it asks us to reset the user) It displays the DS intro screen and then it vanishes, Data Services window doesn't appear, and we do not see the AL_Designer process running on the task manager.
We am using Data Services 4.0 SP1 client on Windows 7 64 bit . (Both on terminal server and on local desktop)
Till couple of days back it was working perfectly fine, It is not reproducible across my team but does happen to everyone.
Teny
Hi Teny,
Could you please do the following on the affected Designer machine in order to enable debug mode and collect some extra information:
1. Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Environment Variables; In System Variables click New and create the following:
Variable name: BOE_LOGGER_ENVIRONMENT
Variable value: -trace
Click OK.
2. Restart the Designer and reproduce the issue;
3. On the file system navigate to "<InstallDir>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging" and find something like "AL_Designer_..._trace.glf"
Also please let me know what type of db do you use for repo?
Thank you,
Viacheslav.

Hi
I have created System Variable: BOE_LOGGER_ENVIRONMENT value: -trace
I have recreated the issue, but there is no addition to the log files.
The last modification to the file was 08:03 this morning.
Repository is a MSSQL database.
Other users can connect fine on different laptops to my Repository.
I have re-installed the client on my laptop, but still no joy.
Thanks
SteveB
Is there any error messages? I used to start from the bottom of the file and go up.
You may attach it here or send it to me on viacheslav.novozhilov@sap.com
Thank you,
Viacheslav.
Hi Arun
The problem seems to be specific to my laptop, which has been working fine for weeks, until this morning. Nothing has changed on my laptop either, so I cant explain it.
Other users have tried and failed on my laptop, but they can access my local repository from their machines.
I have since done a clean install of the client, but this didn't solve the problem.
Thanks for your help
SteveB
Hi Arun
Unfortunately I am not able to switch off the security software.
The only thing I would point out is that all my collegues are running the same security software, and they do not have a problem.
It is looking like I will have to get my laptop re-imaged, which is the last thing in the world that I want to do.
regards
SteveB
Hi
Did you find a solution to this please?
I have the same issue, starting from this morning.
Thanks
SteveB

Hi,
This could be a security issue. Try whether you can connect to the repository database using db tools like sqlcmd (for MSSQL) or sqlplus (oracle).

Shine
