Nakisa OrgModeler - Send Email

Hi experts,

We're on OrgModeler 3.0 SP1.

Based on the OrgModeler user guide, one of the tasks that you can perform on selected records (flagged objects) is to open an empty email message with the addresses of all the selected records. Has anyone seen this work before?

Thanks,

L

Hi L,

Yes, I've seen this work. You have to configure the email in the hierarchy you want it for (Position and/or Employee) in General Settings. Scroll down to Selected Items Settings and enter the name of the email field in the Email Field box.

Hi Luke,

This is what i currently have configured at the employee hierarchy:

Item Description Field 1: Name

Item Description Field 2: <blank>

Email Field: emailText

Did I miss anything?

Thanks,

L

Hi L,

Can you confirm whether this is in the OrgChart module or the Scenario module? The field has to be set in both if you want it to show up in both. Maybe you have done this, but I wanted to be sure

Does the field emailText exist in the list of fields?

Best regards,

Hi Luke,

Looks like email is working when the objects are selected from OrgChart employee listing. But it isn't working when objects are flagged from the OrgChart directly.

Below are the options for the email dropdown in the admin console:

address, birthdate, birthplace, entrydate, id_index, jobid, jobtext, leavingdate, location, marital status, name, object_id, orgid, orgtext, phoneno1, phoneno2, photouri, positionid, positiontext, emailtext, fname, lname.

The option that seems to make the most sense was emailText.

I did the configuration for the scenario module as well, but no luck there.

Thanks,

L

Hi L,

That field doesn't look right to me, since it's in a data element for employee details and not in the data element for the hierarchy. You need to go to the hierarchy data element (SAPPositionDataElement.xml or SAPEmployeeDataElement.xml) and add the mail item into the extrainfo section at the top (if there's no extrainfo section then add one like below).

<extrainfo>

mail
emailText

If the extrainfo section exists then just add the middle 4 lines. Make sure to change emailText to the value of your email field. Beware, the default hierarchy data elements do not have an email field so this might not work. I think the search does have the field, which is why it works.

Luke

Hi Luke,

Sorry, forgot to mention that we just went from OrgModeler 3.0 SP1 to SP2 a couple of days ago. Not sure if this has any impact or not.

Thanks,

L

Hi L,

This shouldn't have an impact if you just copied your SP1 configuration into SP2, since OrgModeler rarely changes from major release to major release, let alone in a Service Pack release. My previous post still stands.

Best regards,

Luke
