Batch activation

Hi...

We are planning to migrate to EWM. Presently we are running the business process in ECC 6.

One DC and 10 Stores with multiple storage locations. Presently the articles are not batch managed. In present DC, we are not able to activate batch. Listed with sales orders, inbound delivery documents. (SD documents exist (orders or deliveries) that have not yet been processed or that have been processed only in part.). Even though GRN and CS process is complete, Inbound delivery and Repair order status in system is still u2018Being Processedu2019.

Following documents status has to be closed and stock in previous periods has to be adjusted using movement type 561 and 562.

This is a very cumbersome procedure and involves lot of process and may lead to errors if any step is not done or is done erroneously effecting stock valuation and financial analysis.

SAP suggest programs which will be subjected to charges.

Is there anyway out to activate batch in another way.

Regards

SAM

True, there are some programs available but those are chargeable as it deals with the impact of the batch managements status change.

for free, this is the only option.. Check the OSS note 1521082. You have to cancel all the open transactions such as PR, PO and etc and remove the stock, activate the batch management and receive the stock with batches.

why there is no option? You want to change the material to batch managed. i.e you want input the material with a new hierarchy. If you activate the batch management for a particular, you should split the existing qty with single batch or multiple batches and mostly it should be multiple batches. In this case, if you simple change the batch status for an existing material it will result in many discrepancy.

Some places create new material numbers. Copy the old material masters to new material numbers, use mass change to set the batch management flag. You then of course have to update and change all your BOM's and any relevant master data such as info records, inspection plans, routings, receipes, etc.. etc..

That can be just as cumbersome if not more so than the process already discussed to clear out all documents and stock.

But dpending on the materials and the kinds of materials you are work with and trying to change, it might be easier.

Hi

The configuration path is fine. Thanks.

We have around 1200 SKU's batch needs to be activated in DC level which is having inventory. What can be done for the existing stock?

Is this an option : To create new DC, while extending the articles to new DC, batch check box has to be activated. Then stock has to be transferred from site to site. Is there any impact on this.

Hi, Batch cannot be activated if you have stocks in the system, you can follow the option mentioned by you in development, it seems to be fine if new batch is created.

I do not know how many materials (SKUs) you have which needs to be activated for batch mgmt.

But if it is that you have quite a few that needs to be activated, its worth looking at the service provided by SAP (its a paid service).

I do not know how to attach any document here, but you can search this with "Batch Management Conversion Tool

(Report RVBCONVMAT2BM)".

You can convert your inventory worth more than thousands of SKUs within just couple of hrs to batch managed and all your documents and master data will be updated and as compared to the effort required by doing it maually its the cheapest option available. It costs less than 10000USD I think.
