Data Download on device Dependencies

Hi,

Could any one let me know the parameters on which the data download from the BE to Device depends on. Assuming that currently we are trying to download the data on one device?

Do these parameters change if there are more devices what are the additional parameters when there are more than one device?

What role the Mobile Engine client play on the data download.

I would like a detailed explanation if possible and also is there any white paper/presentation made on the same that could be shared.
