Material Reservation through Sales Order

Hi Guys,

We have this requirement of reserving Materials automatically upon saving the Sales Order, if there is stock available in the plant.

AND if there is no stock available the same sales order should generate an Automatic Purchase requisition for the same.

We know that a manual resevation is possible throygh MB21 but we need this to be done automatically once the sales order is saved.

Normally sales orders do not create reservations, but requirements.

If you do an ATP check, and there's stock, this stock is then committed to the order.

When you work via general stock, PR will not be created, but rather requirements that will later be planned by MRP, which will create the PR.

Nevertheless, you may use an user exit to change this logic if you really wanted.

Thank you for your reply, I understand that the sales order does not create a reservation, would like to know if there are any settings, either in MRP or else where to reserve stock automatically once a Sales order is saved and the Document is Complete.

MRP is a planning tool, and has nothing to do with reserving stock.

As I said, you can set up ATP check, either in the sales order and/or in the delivery. If there's enough stock (as per your ATP check definitions), system will commit this stock to that sales order/delivery.
