i have cr2011 version 14.0.2.364RTM

How do i select a .xlsx (excel 200) as an input data source ?

when i click:-

create new connection - access/excel(dao) /database type

i only see

excel3.0, excel4.0, excel5.0 excel 8.0

and none of these see .xlsx files when i click the database source (.....) button

I can export ok to .xlsx via "microsoft excel workbook data-only"

Hi John,

You would need to create a 32-bit ODBC connection to the .xlsx file using the 'Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls, *.xlsx, *.xslm, *.xlsb)'.

Access/Excel(DAO) connection is not supported with .xlsx or .accdb.

Abhilash, thanks

i created a 32-bit ODBC connection to the .xlsx file using the 'Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls, *.xlsx, *.xslm, *.xlsb)'.

The options i was presented with in the ODBC for version were Excel 12.0 Excel 3.0 Excel 4.0 Excel 5.0/95 Excel 97-2000

Then in crystal i create new connection/odbc(rdo) select the .xlsx i just created, but i never see the workbook to move to the right(selected mtables)

Onece i create the connection, how do i use it in crystal ? what datasource do i use ?

Were you successful in creating the ODBC connection to the .xlsx file using the Excel 12.0 version?

If you were, then you need to go to create new connection, select ODBC and then select the ODBC connection you just created.

You should be able to see the connection and the worksheets.

Yes

If you were, then you need to go to create new connection, select ODBC and then select the ODBC connection you just created.

I create the new connection usinf ODBC(RDO) select the newly created connection(which used the microsoft .xls drivers)

You should be able to see the connection and the worksheets.

I see only "add command" when i see this connection, no worksheets are visible.

In the original worksheet, it is named sheet1.

Any ideas ?

Thanks John

Hi John,

Yes, I've seen a similar issue in the past with Office 2003 (.xls file). That issue was not specific to ODBC, we had issues with Access/Excel (DAO) and OLEDB as well; none of them showed the worksheets.

In the end, it was identified as a Profile corruption on the local machine.

Do you have any other machine where this works fine? Or can someone else log-in to your machine and see if the worksheets are visible from CR?

I just installed the CR 2011 upgrade and I am having exactly the same problem as John Fleming reported a year ago.  Is there a fix for this?

Hi Daniel,

I would recommend posting this as a new thread.

In the connection option, "system tables" should be checked.
