SAP ECC 6.0 Install Error

Hello,

I am trying to install the IDES version of SAP ECC 6 with Oracle RDBMS 10.2 on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 (Enterprise Edition) solely for learning/practice purposes. I have followed the process as far as I know. I am repeatedly getting the error as follows:

"An error occurred while processing option Enhancement Package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 > SAP Application Server ABAP > Oracle > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :Execution of the command "C:\DOCUME1\ADMINI1\LOCALS~1\Temp\sapinst_exe.980.1326707510\SAPCAR.exe -x -v -g -i -f "J:\SAP ECC 6\SAP Unzipped\6. IDES Inst. Mst. 7.01 ERP, CRM, SCM\51037622\IM_WINDOWS_X86_64\COMMON\INSTALL\SECINSTTOOLS.SAR,"" finished with return code 29. Output: SAPCAR: no archives specified for extracting (error 29). The system cannot find the path specified.). "

This is happening during the first phase of installation itself. I have installed Java and created a path as below. Java Environment Variable Added- C:\j2sdk1.4.2_12. Also I have installed the Oracle before I started with the IDES Installation Master.

I am using IDES Installation Master 7.01 for my installation. As I am very new to this field any help or ideas to resolve the above error so the installation can proceed further would be much appreciated.

Awaiting an early response. Thanks in advance for any help.

Vinay

Hi Vinay,

J:\SAP ECC 6\SAP Unzipped\6. IDES Inst. Mst. 7.01 ERP, CRM, SCM\51037622\IM_WINDOWS_X86_64\COMMON\INSTALL\SECINSTTOOLS.SAR

Ensure the following

1) You do not have any blank spaces in the foldername and file path. Remove all blank spaces with an "_". Best would be to make the file path smaller and simple.

2) Ensure that all the DVDs are copied to local disk and not on shared drives.

Dear Mark,

Thanks for your reply. The installation media is on a external HDD. However as Mr. Deepak suggests I will try removing the spaces in the file names and also reduce the length of the file path and try. Will update on the results.

Best,
