Question regarding the Accordion menu

Former Member

I have a bit of a conundrum. I have an accordion menu linked to a data table that outputs into multiple objects. I was tasked with linking a second data table to this menu, which is on a different tab, and linked to a different canvas and object.

Is this even possible? Most objects can only pull data from one source for display. I mean, I only see the option for one data source on this object.

Hi Matt ,

As per the understanding that I have gained from your query my answer for this would be,

"So what if the data are from tow different tabs and of different data display..You can combine both the set of data by equalling the cells in another tab and have it as one set of data and map it to the accordian menu."

Please raise your query if I am wrong of understanding your question or you need more clarification.

Hope it helps!

No. The two data sets have to output to two different components on two different canvases in the same model. They also have to be dynamic in the fact that if I pick one item, only the data related to that item will display. I wish I could copy this model to you and show it better.

The first real question is, can a component pull data ranges from two different data tables? It seems to me that you are only capable of pulling data from one data set on an excel model, per component.

Hi MattCarper,

NO.Few of the components in xcelsius are capable of pulling data from many sources(tables) in different sheets and can give back value at a time if we create different series for them. For your case, you need to create a new category by clicking on the "+" sign under categories in the properties of the accordion menu component .

For your information, there is no limitation like that the data has to be there in only one sheet when you are mapping your data.you can map the data from multiple sheets to a single component.

thought it will help you.

Ravi,

Can you explain that last sentence a bit better for me?

"For your information, there is no limitation like that the data has to be there in only one sheet when you are mapping your data.you can map the data from multiple sheets to a single component."

It might just be the wording that I am getting wrong, but it sounds like I can map three different data tables to a component. I am incredibly sorry, but this program is very confusing to me, to the point of frustration. It sounds like I CAN link three data tables to that accordion component?

hi mattcarper,

correct.you can map three data tables to the accordion menu if and only if the three tables format is same.

How on earth do you do that? Each component only has one source data section.
