Solution Manager 7.1 Integration with Sharepoint

Hello,

We are trying tio implement Solution docuemtnation in Solution manager 7.1 integrated with Sharepoint. Need any suggestion or guidence to integrate Solution MAnager with Share point.

We want to store docuemtn in share point and would like to provide a link of this docuemnt in Solution MAnager.

Hi Bhavesh,

When you try to add a new document in either General or Project documentation in Solar01 or Solar02, instead of "attaching" a document, insert a weblink, and that link should point to the Sharepoint repository.

Remember to use relative urls on sharepoint, since when you migrate sharepoint to newer editions, the absolute urls on sharepoint will break real easy and that will destroy the purpose of having links stored in Sharepoint.

Sometimes there is a limit on the number of characters that can be present in a link, if that is the case, you may have to get your Sharepoint Administrator to use a link shortening service, or just tweak the Relative url accordingly. If you are not using the SolMan KW, the only (possible, I may be wrong on this one) disadvantage I see is your ability to search through documents in SolMan. But that can be easily achieved in MOSS, whose search capabilities are generally better.

Thanks for the answers. and i apologies for not making my query clear. actualIy I know attaching the link in SOluton manager in project Documentation Tab , but I need little bit more help in terms of integrating solution manager and sharepoint. I describe it little bit further

Is it possible that i can give a url of solution amanager project in portal or in some other frontend from where I can access the docuemtn availablle in the perticulat project in SM using th url. ( without SAP GUI)

Also apart from MOSS is it possibel to use TREX as an search engine.

A project specific iview maybe if you are using SAP Portal? I have not tried it myself, so I cannot elaborate on the topic.

But project specific documents (if they are being uploaded to MOSS and only web-linked in SolMan) should just be locked/read only and can be access controlled using MOSS security as well. So I wonder why the complication of providing it to everyone on a Portal link, when the webfront end for MOSS should provide you the link and the content can be controlled using MOSS security

Also apart from MOSS is it possibel to use TREX as an search engine.

This would be a possible disadvantage, but you are not missing out on much, because MOSS's context based search is actually better, and i ssay this from personal experience.

Hello,

I want to put docuemtn in solution manager ( or link of doceumtn in SOlution manager) and tehn want to give the solution manager project link on the enterprise protal to access document. I hope it will clarify the doubts.

So the simple question is how can i access the documents resides in solution manager using url access of solution manager without using the logon pad( GUI)

I have the same problem. Our customer has all documents on Sharepoint and wants to have link from SOLAR01/02 in Solman 7.0 to Sharepoint. Is it possible? Any ideas? Thank's in advance!
