How to install IPC(internet Pricing and Configurator) on this system. What are the pre-requisites to configure IPC through XCM(Extended Configuratiion Management)? Do we need Java stack also?
Please guide me...
Thanks in Advance,
Uday.
Hello Uday
Note mentiooned by Joaquin is relevant. I will try to complete the information.
Starting from CRM50 on and up to the current version CRM70 ,the "basis"
side that processes the business logic for pricing and configuration is
handled by the Virtual Machine Container (VMC) (notes in component
BC-VMC*).
The pricing and configuration components are still Java but they run
over the VMC, which is installed together with the CRM Server. Please
check these notes:
844816 Information for Upgrade from IPC 4.0 to SAP AP 7.00
844817 Technical information for the VMC based AP 7.00 engines
880749 Patching of VMC based AP 7.00 engines ***
867428 Adapt buffer refresh times of VMC based AP 7.00
(how to refresh the buffer immediately)
In order to perform the initial setup of the VMC
check first of all that you have configured your system
according to the information in notes:
854170 Activating the component "VM Container"
1020539 Memory management in the virtual machine container
1170313 Zero administration memory management in VMC
The last note of these, 1170313, is intended to reduce the
administration and tuning efforts ( only some of the parameters in note 1170313 need to be configured)
You must ask the functional team if product configuration is used.
If product configuration is used, the user interface will be processed
by a web application running over the J2EE Engine, so SAP WEB AS Java
(J2EE Engine) is still needed. In that case, the web application must be configured with XCM
If only pricing is used but there is no product configuration, then the J2EE Engine is not needed
and XCM is not necessary either.
Best Regards
Luis Rivera

Hello
[This |http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/CRM/HowtoConfiguringSAPCRM7.0fordownloadanduseofVariantConfiguration+Products]is a very good document that explains almost everything. Furthermore, I am sure you already have the configuration guide from the service marketplace.
