Setting up IDOC AAE

I got this blog as a reference in setting up IDOC Advanced Adapter Engine. [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/20899] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];

There's a note that "NOTE: In a dual-stack installation, we can use either the IDoc or IDoc_AAE adapter. "

However, our current setup is a dual-stack. The blog talks about setting up RFC Destination Configuration on NWA (since AAE is on the Java stack).

If we are on a dual-stack, is there still a need to setup RFC Destination Configuration on NWA if the same has been setup already in the ABAP side? Are the configs two entirely separate setups?
