I recent had windows patch KB2585542 installed on my machine running IE8 and XP(cringing). I have sent a notice to the SCN support team, but wanted to let people know if you have this installed you will no longer be able to view most of SCN at the present moment. My co-worker's machine does not have this patch installed and has no issues in accessing content.
Your alternatives until the issue is fixed is to use another browser or device that is not impacted by the hot fixes.
Take care,
Stephen
Hi Stephen,
As the problem seems to have been fully diagnosed and resolved, can we mark this question as answered?
Best regards,

Stephen,
Thanks for posting this message and referring to KB2585542.
We recently began getting reports from external users to our web portal (Netweaver 7.0 SP2) that they could not connect to our site.
I just verified on my own today that for IE9, I can turn on and off access to our SAP Netweaver portal by uninstalling (able to access) and installing (unable to access) this security update from Microsoft.
We thought it was related to users having different settings in Internet Explorer 9. Now we will be focusing on this Microsoft update.

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the warning. The only problem is that I can't control which KB is automatically installed by my company windows security team, on my professianal PC. And I guess that it may be the same in a lot of other companies...
Regards,
Olivier

Olivier,
I couldn't control either, it just a matter of time before most people will get that patch as it fixes a nasty security vunerability. Most SAP Customers should have received a warning about the windows patch causing problems with older Netweaver Java servers via an email telling them to look at note 1663313.
Take care,
Stephen
Hi,
In fact, I have discovered that this Windows Security Patch KB has already been deployed on all my company's PCs with luckily no ill effect.
My understanding is that it is because we have a SAP Web Dispatcher in front of our SAP Portal and it is this Web Dispatcher who terminates the SSL connexion.
One more good reason to use the Web Dispatcher !
Regards,
Olivier
