Infopackage Setting

Hi Friends !

We have two failures in our data loads while ODS activation. Invalid characters & no SID values. I know various ways like you can edit PSA, create routine to remove the invalid characters, create a master data etc

But in our project we have to use only the infopackage to resolve the issue. I tried all the options like

1) Do not update data if no master data exists for a characteritsics

2) No update no reporting

3) Valid records update, no reporting (request RED)

4) Valid records update, no reporting (request GREEN)

but still activation is failing. Can you please help how to resolve this issue?

With Regards

Rekha

    Hi,

will like to add one point , if you know that master data will definately get loaded sometime after the load to ODS ( ideally master data should be loaded first but there may be some specific scenario ) then you should go with the last options you tried :

    4) Valid records update, no reporting (request GREEN)

and provide number of number of records after which it should terminate.

    Regards,

    Neeraj.

      Hi,

When the activation fails try to check the log for activation. In that there is a possibility that you find the data package/record number or the value that contains the error data. Now if the activation has failed due to erroneous data then it will list the same and the field name as well for which the error has occurred.

Once you have the data record details, then you can delete the request from DSO and then trace the record back to PSA. Correct the same and then load it back to the DSO and start the activation.

    Hi Rekha

ODS activation gives error when SIDs are generated. So InfoPackage ( even DTP) options will not be able to segregate "invalid" records.

If your ODS has "BEx Reporting" checked then during activation ( Act queue -

    >Active table) SIDs get generated and for invalid character activation fails.

If your InfoObjects are "attribute only" then ODS activation will not fail for those InfoObjects even if "invalid" characters are there.

But it depends on your project requirement.

So its better to write routine to remove those Invalid Character. I do not see any other good option.

    Hi,

I don't know how activation problem will get resolved without correcting errors..

In error handling you can see if you can ignore the records..put some numbers...but in case you need to have those records you have to correct them in RSKC by maintaining charaters,by correcting data in the source itself or by loading the master data again so SIDs will get generated..you also need to load the transaction data...

    Thanks and regards

    Hi,

    for invalid characters in system here is a post which will help you Link:[Invalid Characters;

for SID error you must check the master data. check the logs in SM37 which will provide you which value is causing SID issue and you can then either maintain it or load it.
