UOM with Movement Types

Dear Experts,

we have 3 types of UOM e.g: EA,Test and PACK. My requirement is,while dng movement type -201& 202,the system should accept PACK only.

If we give any other movement types for the same UOM,it should show error.

is ter any solution for this scenario??

a movement can be made with any unit/alternative unit that is maintained in material master.

you can define defaults for the processes, e.g goods issue, purchase order, warehouse management, sales order.....

But the defaults can be overwritten.

and there is nothing to prevent that, except you make the unit field display only, which does not really make sense.

It sounds like you have some particular issue in mind.

Maybe you should talk to your users and try to find out why they are going to use units different from your expectation.

Maybe the stock keeping unit is just wrong, maybe the concept was not explained and trained well.

In MM02, you can maintain the goods issue unit as "Pac" in "plant data / stor 1" view. So whenever you post GI, system defaultly picks "Pack" as the UOM. while doing GI, it also shows the UOM in stock keeping unit.

But as everyone said, it's not logical to restrict the user not to change it.

have tried it? and at your end you have to make mandatory, unless nd until there is no reservation number , stock keeper should issue material , reservation for 201 movement type

I want 201 and 202 allocate only for PACK.

the movement types other than 201 and 202, should apply for EA and TEST.

is ther any std config without user exit??

There is no stander configuration for this

No, it cant be done directly, It can be achieved with abapers help.

but we can do something like this, so that user can't enter or change the UoM during these movement types.

For this, we need to create new MVT Types with the copy of 201 and 202. and for these mvt type we can do screen layout setting or variant configuration.

Let me explore something more.

Sometimes users are making mistakes while entering those movement types.For removing those errors and maintanence free,we want this scenario.

did anyone implement a scenario like this?

what do you mean by mistakes while enetering movement types?????

do you have any fixed values in your mind , like 201 will pack 101 will bein kg

if so then go for a user exit with help of your abaper ...Give a proper requirement to the abaper............But in this case you wont able to do the movements with any other MATERIAL having UOM other then u specified.....
